Have you ever…
Question 1: Skipped your homework on purpose?
The 5 themes
Ten questions each, in the order you'll meet them.
- 1–10
In class
Forgotten homework, tests and detention: everyday life at school.
- 11–20
At home
Little lies, arguments and groundings — everything that happens under one roof.
- 21–30
With friends
Sleepovers, secrets and falling-outs with the people you hang out with.
- 31–40
Crushes
From the first butterflies to a first kiss — and nothing more.
- 41–50
Phones and social media
Secret accounts, screenshots and late nights on your phone.
What does your score mean?
Your score runs from 0 to 100: it's the share of questions you answered no. It says what you've done, not who you are.
- 100
Angel
Not a single box. You’re either very well-behaved or very good at keeping secrets, and nobody can prove which.
- 90–99
Squeaky clean
A skipped assignment here, a laughing fit there. Your parents sleep soundly.
- 70–89
Pretty innocent
A few slip-ups, a crush or two, some late nights on your phone. A completely normal record.
- 50–69
Typical teen
Arguments, secrets, a grounding or two. Nothing alarming; that’s what being a teenager looks like.
- 30–49
A bit of a rebel
The front office probably knows your name. You’ve checked a good chunk of the list and have stories to go with it.
- 10–29
Rebel
Cut classes, sneaking out, secret accounts: almost everything. Your friends know more than your parents do.
- 0–9
Out of control
Every box or close to it. Either your life is a movie or you answered yes to everything to see what happens.
No official average has ever been published, so treat the bands as rough markers, not a ranking.
Why a teen version?
The Rice Purity Test comes from Rice University in Houston, Texas, where it has been passed around since 1924. The original 100 questions were written for college students: they ask directly about sex, alcohol and drugs, and they aren't meant for middle or high schoolers.
This version keeps the idea — a list of “Have you ever…” questions and a score out of 100 — with questions about life between 13 and 17: class, home, friends, first crushes and your phone. A parent can read through it without any surprises. The original test is meant for adults.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Rice Purity Test for teens?
A version of the Rice Purity Test written for 13 to 17-year-olds: 50 questions about school, home, friends, crushes and phones. Each yes lowers your score, which runs from 0 to 100.
Is the original Rice Purity Test OK for a 14-year-old?
Not really. The original 100 questions were written for college students and ask directly about sex, alcohol and drugs. This version keeps the idea — a list of “Have you ever…” questions and a score out of 100 — and leaves all of that out.
What age is it for?
It’s written for ages 13 to 17. Older readers are welcome to take it to remember their high school years.
Can my parents see my answers?
No. Your score is worked out in your browser, and this site doesn’t send your answers or your score anywhere. Your progress is saved only on your device so you can pick up after a refresh, and “Start over” erases it.
What is a good score on the teen Rice Purity Test?
There isn’t one. A high score doesn’t make you better and a low one doesn’t make you a bad kid: the test counts experiences, not qualities. No official average has been published either.
How long does it take?
About five minutes: 50 questions, one at a time, with your result as soon as you answer the last one.
