Below is the complete Rice Purity Test — every one of the 100 questions, in the order they appear on the test. Each question asks whether you have ever done the thing described. Every yes costs you one point from a starting score of 100.

The list is grouped here by theme to make it readable. The groupings are ours; the questions and their order are the standard ones that have circulated since the test left Rice University.

A note before you read: the test was written for college students and the second half is explicit about sex, drugs and run-ins with the law. It is not written for children.

1–16Dating, kissing and first physical contact

The opening stretch is deliberately gentle — holding hands, a first date, a first kiss. Almost everyone loses their first points here, which is why the test feels easy before it does not.

Six questions about things done alone. They are also the questions people most often lie about, which is worth remembering before comparing scores with anyone.

The longest run before intercourse: touching, oral sex, sexting and the logistics that come with a shared room. "MPS" in these items is the test’s old shorthand for "member of the preferred sex".

44–52Alcohol, tobacco and other drugs

Nine substance questions, escalating from a first drink to hard drugs. This block is where scores diverge sharply between people with otherwise similar answers.

From a visit to the dean’s office to a felony conviction. Most people answer no to nearly all of these, which is why very low scores are so rare.

The final third covers intercourse and its variations in increasing detail, ending with a handful of items most takers will never answer yes to.

Why question 69 is blank

On the official test, item 69 has no text at all — the number is the entire joke, and takers are left to decide for themselves what they are answering. We render it as 69? so that it still reads as a question when you meet it one screen at a time.

How the scoring works

Start at 100 and subtract one point for every question you answer yes to. A score of 100 means you have done none of these things; a score of 0 means you have done all of them. Nothing on the list is worth more than anything else, which is one of the reasons the final number should not be taken too seriously.
